Book reviews from club coaches, sports schools and schools.

There are always new feedbacks or opinions about the books Budo Games published so far submitted by club or national trainers and published here for you. The club trainers are the basis and thus the most important foundation for our sport. Without them there would be no Olympic champions, no world champions, no inspiration, no innovation, no teaching of values, no sense of community. Thank you for your tireless efforts! Thank you for your terrific feedback - it makes me happy when I can support you with my books.

If you would also like to submit something and recommend the book to others, I would be happy to receive your e-mail.

What the club world says about the book series ...

"Not only as a Ju-Jutsu trainer, but also as a physical education teacher, I can only recommend Volume I and Volume II for use in school. Simply because it is the best at the moment that the topics "brawling and wrestling", "cooperation and problem-solving tasks", as well as "trial of strength" and "aggression control" from the sports curriculum (learning area: fairness / cooperation / self-competence) under such versatile aspects easily explained and with many pictures great. The photos in the books already show that the games let the players come out of themselves and everyone has fun. And so it is in practice. Sweaty and happy faces from curricular physical education classes, what more could you want?"

"I'm really excited about this. With the naming of the different categories (legend colors) you have made the search for the readers really easy. The structure of the games with accompanying photos leave no question unanswered. I find your partner exercises especially valuable for the further development of social skills or for social integration. My compliments for the successful work and many thanks for the wealth of ideas."

"I can highly recommend the Budo Games volumes. They enrich both the children and adult judo training but also the different age groups of parent-child judo. In addition to the high-quality photos and the clear descriptions on good paper, many well-known faces of the Budo world with "their" games have their say (and picture) on the more than 380 pages per volume. Very good I find the various registers at the end, which are very clearly arranged by category, by material and by claim. This makes the volumes a very effective tool for the preparation of the training. A small lexicon of Japanese terms also rounds off the successful compilation."

"The Budo Games books by Dennis Buttler are terrific. Contents, photos, layout as well as the world class athletes and national coaches who reveal their favorite games are unique in the book world. And I am especially happy that we from PSV Meiningen 90 e.V. department JU-JUTSU were allowed to host the first training course for the Budo Games training course series to make the picture material and to be part of this great book project with our members. On behalf of all fellow coaches, members as well as parents we say thank you."

"Today I would like to highly recommend this book: Budo Spiele from Dennis Buttler.

A Must for all kids coaches. A book which describes all kind of games to teach martial arts in a playful and didactic way to kids (and adults) of all ages. Really cool and useful. It is worth every cent."

"I received the first Budo Games volume this week. I am thrilled! As the director of two professional martial arts schools, I have already dealt a lot with Budo games for children and young people. But this book gives me many additional ideas and especially variations. You can tell that this book was compiled with heart and love for the martial arts.

A huge praise to the author Dennis Buttler!"

"Dennis Buttler has created a very good tool for coaches with the first two volumes of his book series BUDO GAMES. The game and exercise forms were created in cooperation with many Budo clubs. We from TV 1868 Burghausen (www.jjburghausen.de) were also allowed to participate.

The specific exercises are described in the books briefly, but in detail and presented with excellent visual material. The photos show that the participants enjoy the sport and thus train more intensively.

It is important that even children find fun in sports and exercise. The trainers can contribute a lot to this.

BUDO GAMES should serve as a "database of ideas" for every trainer for a training design."

"What a beautiful collection of budo games! Every judo coach is looking for ideas and games for their classes. Judoka will have a lot of fun with these games! Clear and with beautiful illustrations. Thank you Dennis for the beautiful books."

"Wat een mooie verzameling budospelen! Iedere judotrainer is op zoek naar ideeën en spelletjes om in zijn les te kunnen gebruiken. Met deze spelletjes zullen de judoka’s veel plezier beleven! Duidelijk en met mooie illustraties voorzien. Bedank Dennis voor de mooie boeken."

"We are eagerly awaiting Volume II. It's hard to imagine the training program without the first volume. The kids are thrilled with the exercises, especially the games, which are requested again every training session. The kids have mega fun playing the games. The coaches have devoured Volume I, so the book is already very "worn out". Volume II can therefore come!"

"Volume II is a hit! It already has sticky notes with the game and training decisions for the next training sessions. Already people are puzzling over what can be incorporated into training and when. The book was not unpacked for 10 minutes before the first game of world champion Ivan Nastenko (Ukraine) was tried out at home. What can I say, Volume I was replaced by Volume II as our favorite book. Now we are eagerly waiting for Volume III."

"Unlike other sports game collections in my bookcase, the book comes in an attractive format, impresses with an interesting varied selection of pictures and is not too academically cerebral in the text part ...

Overall: Clear buy recommendation!"

"I liked volume 1 so much that I absolutely had to have the second volume as well. Some well-known games are now even more exciting, strenuous or even more fun with new variations. A MUST for every Budo trainer.

The books are great and here a big thank you from trainer to trainer: The games are an enrichment for the training. Superbly described and implemented. Respect for what you have achieved. Thank you very much for the work you have done for us."

"The fact that children can be inspired in sports with quick game ideas, good materials and always an exciting story should not be a secret to most trainers for a long time. However, the fact that the "big ones" also love to play and that these games can of course also be used to set quite intensive training stimuli is a success of the book series "Budo Games" Vol. 1 and 2 by Dennis Buttler. In addition to endurance, speed, reaction and quickness, grip strength, switching ability and social skills can also be transferred very well through play. These versatile training stimuli and the use of various sports materials further increase training motivation and thus also performance and willingness to perform. The fact that high-performance training can still be fun was clearly seen and felt when Dennis presented a selection of his games to us. Dennis Buttler is not only active in Ju-Jutsu but also practices Judo, Jiu-Jitsu as well as BJJ and besides numerous sports licenses he also has a lot of own experience from his sports and competition career. The children were literally hanging on Dennis' every word and remained highly motivated for 2 hours in the best of moods. The enthusiasm of the adults was also enormous. In addition to many great ideas for games, which they can now implement themselves in training, the main thing that remained was the realization that it is much easier to push yourself to your personal limits in terms of play and that the training was nevertheless versatile and varied.

What remains: Thank you Dennis! Keep up the good work, you are our motivation and inspiration in equal measure! The two volumes published so far are available to every trainer and are in constant use. This is how it should be for a high-quality compendium created for sports practice. Predicate: Indispensable!"

"This book is a gift!!!! Yesterday it arrived in the mail. As soon as we unpacked it, we realized that it was something very special: The weight: Hammer! The cover: really silky, felt the embossed title right away when running over it. It just feels good in the hand. The cover picture just super fitting and three-D-wise an absolute eye-catcher.

At first skimming and browsing: the dedication: 5 stars. The smooth pages, through the text partial adhesion also fully visible when opened, and you do not have to smooth. The font very, very nice and appropriate to the topic, the entire layout kept very quiet and absolutely not overwhelming, ie too much info, or slaying!

Clear structure. The headings also in very attractive font size. The quote for the introduction: Perfect! The introduction itself very well formulated, and brings with us - and certainly with many others - a déjà vu effect and already very instructive.

...

A very good helper is also the play register according to material and stress.

Great respect for the thanks! More words are not needed.

Conclusion: We are eager to look at the games in detail and to try them out with our judoka. Maybe we will also find one or the other game that our kids already love, and which is not yet in the book (but certainly already bookmarked in volumes 2 and 3).

First impressions and skimming your book are extremely positive, and we honor and respect all the time and work, including the love of budo sports, that went into it.

All in all: a book that arouses immediate interest, is extremely appealing and designed with great attention to detail, it will become a centerpiece of our club. Big kudos to you and everyone who helped you with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Warm-up games have been part of a varied training for me for over 18 years.

Partly I came as a little boy already alone because of the warm-up games to the training, and the rest of the training was then still the "Topingkeks".

In the Budo games, various basic skills for martial arts: such as body awareness, grip strength, reaction, strategic thinking, fairness, discipline, perseverance and fun in doing are trained.

Dennis his Budo books should be missing in no club to be inspired again and again. Also, young and old are even more pleased when they are allowed to choose a (warm-up) game from one of Dennis' budo books for their birthday, for example.

I wish Dennis all the best, and all Budokas and Budo game interested people a lot of fun and joy playing the Budo games."

"The books turned out great - really great! When I was allowed to read the scripts in the editorial office, I was already fascinated by the variety - and that despite my many years as a trainer. But when I held the books in my hands with layout and all the great photos, I was totally thrilled. These books are terrific and a MUST for every martial arts lover."

"There are different possibilities in the trainer education and further education in martial arts. The German Olympic Sports Confederation and its affiliated professional associations regularly offer various opportunities for this.

In order to acquire a personal and technical competence, the book "Budo-Spiele" Volume I and Volume II by Dennis Buttler offers a very good opportunity to further educate oneself in this regard, and to expand one's professional competence in a targeted manner. And trainer beginners it is an immense support for the training preparation.

For me it is a "must-have" for all prospective and trained trainers in martial arts.

In my daily training in the martial arts school akitafit, the books are indispensable. They are even used especially in the rehab area."

"Dennis Buttler does a wonderful pioneering job with these Budo Games books that have never been done before.

As an experienced fighter and coach in the field of martial arts, he always finds new and / or modified games for young and young-at-heart martial artists through his seemingly countless contacts.

The books were published as hardcover and high quality glossy. The entire design captivates with its own charm, modern illustrations, detailed instructions on the structure of a game, the required materials, various modifications, the required time frame and the sport-specific benefits, as well as the extremely appealing action photos from many different clubs and martial arts.

These games tempt me to try them out, become a real experience and are a "must-have" for every martial arts trainer who is interested in a varied training with great fun.

The exciting profiles and favorite games of martial arts greats, coaches and officials make the books and the games described seem authentic, to be easily replicated. - Thanks for this!"

Already looking forward to volumes 3 and 4."

Therefore, thank you for this extensive collection and enrichment of our training. These books should become a standard work for every trainer."
